‘Bhajans’ is a collection of 10 compositions for piano, inspired by the devotional folk music of West Bengal. This album project comprises of 5 original compositions and 5 adaptations of traditional bhajan melodies by composers such as Bhaktivinoda Thakur and Narottama Das Thakur. I have sought to bring my dual Indian and English heritage together through these compositions, exploring a harmonic language which draws on classical and jazz influences and the devotional folk music that surrounded me growing up in Hare Krishna community in Watford. The full album will be released later this year.
